Why is the best before date not printed directly on the foil?

It would be really cool if the best-by date were printed right on the cup. Unfortunately, due to production constraints, this is not possible at the moment. If you store the cups in the refrigerator without the outer packaging, we recommend writing the best-by date on the foil with a permanent marker.
